The local grocery sadly does not carry fresh sprouts for stir-fries and sandwiches. So I decided I should just grow my own. I just received my order of 2 Easy Sprouters along with Alfalfa and Mung seeds 3 days ago. The mung sprouts threatened to take over my kitchen and kept escaping from the sprouter after the 2nd day. I only used half a cup of mung bean seeds. I kept the family happy by making egg fu yung omellettes on day 2 till the mungs were at just the right crispiness and size to put in the fridge. The stir fry the next day was amazing! Now my family wants me to order the shiitake mushroom kit because they want shrooms in the stir fry, miso, and homemade pizza!

Meanwhile, on day 3 of the Alfalfa adventure I accidentally knocked over the sprouter and a handful of sprouts fell onto the counter. Not wanting to contaminate the rest of the Alfalfa sprouts, I fed our guinea pig the spilt alfalfa. A couple of hours later, whatever was spilt was already replaced in volume and was threatening to leave the sprouter. So I retaliated by making 6 sandwiches packed full of sprouts. The sandwiches were quickly devoured by the family. I came back a few hours later again to give the alfalfa sprouts a final rinse only to find that once again, the sprouts were attempting to escape. So I made more sandwiches for the family and just left the alfalfa sprouts alone to dry enough for refridgeration. I wanted more green to the alfalfa tops but settled for what we already had since they tasted yummy as is. If I left the alfalfa out to grow and dry another 8-12 hours, I feared they would take over the kitchen counter.

Now I'm ready to order more seeds (some for sprouting and some for growing oriental veggies for soups and stir fries) and a shiitake kit.
