Toxic red algae blooms are NOT the same as spirulina or chlorella. Spirulina and Chlorella  are not as bad as some people think. Also, seaweeds are  very nutritious ocean plants. Dulse, nori, etc. are NOT one celled little guys holding on together with their legs, as some algae blooms. Some algae DO take the CO2 out, and is a good idicator of water quality. Algae blooms are a differant species that cause death to our oceans, flourishing by fertilizer runoff and sewage pouring into our seas. Toxic algae blooms flourish because of humans disturbing the quality of our seas. Other, very nutrious seaweeds have nourished people for thousands of years, and grow in clean, pure places where humans have not yet poisoned, and the ocean life thrives around and with them.Consuming seaweeds like nori, etc., does not lead to a decaying body as does eating animal flesh or cooked, processed foods.

Also lakes sometimes have algae blooms in the hot summers because of the homes that are built on it's shores and the pesticides and fertilizers that are sprayed on those lawns. As far as seaweed, there is really healthy seaweed that you can eat. Many sushi restaurants serve seaweed salad along with using seaweed to wrap in sushi rolls. Just like kale and other good greens, there are lots of good greens in the ocean too.
